Scott County school to hold harvest festival
Scott County Central School's first harvest festival and beauty pageant will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the elementary school gym. Sponsored by the class of 2005, the fund raiser includes games, food and beauty pageants for both genders, including king and queen crownings. Candidates receiving the most monetary votes will be announced as winners at the festival. There will be door prizes and prizes awarded for game winners. Missouri Lottery announces area winners
More than $4.3 million in cash prizes of $1,000 or more were awarded during September, according to the Missouri Lottery. Roy Robinson of Perryville, Mo., won $5,000 in the Powerball drawing. Pick 4 winners were Kerry Davis of Cape Girardeau, $3,000; Sammy Davis of Cape Girardeau, $6,000; Valerie Davis of Cape Girardeau, $3,000; and Lester Powell of Sikeston, Mo., $6,000. Scratchers winners were Nakeba Williams of Cape Girardeau, $7,780; and Dallas Hinshaw of Sikeston, $1,000.
AARP reschedules meeting to next week
The Cape Girardeau County Chapter of AARP will meet at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Grace Methodist Church at Broadway and Caruthers in Cape Girardeau. This meeting has been rescheduled from today. The program will be "Angels Among Us," presented by Dottie Eisenhauer.
A door prize drawing will be held.
Mobile office to stop in Marble Hill, Jackson
U.S. Rep Jo Ann Emerson's mobile office will be at the Marble Hill Library from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday and the Jackson Chamber of Commerce from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday.
Relay for Life planning for next year's event
The next planning meeting for the 2004 Relay for Life will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 11 at Westfield Shoppingtown's southwest end. This permanent meeting place is just inside the entrance to the right, just before the jewelry store and across from the side of Lane Bryant. Plans are to take December off and resume in January by meeting on the second Tuesday monthly.

Potato farming subject of Women in Ag meeting
The next meeting of the Scott County Women in Agriculture will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the USDA Office, Highway 77, Benton, Mo. Clay Shelby will speak to the group about potato farming.
Not all members are involved in farming, but they do share an interest in gardening, cooking, farming, family activities and helping the community. Book discussion group meets at Cape library
The morning book discussion group at the Cape Girardeau Public Library will feature "Personal History" by Katherine Graham. The group meets from 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 14.
Stories for preschoolers to be held at Riverside
Preschool story time at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson will be at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 10. Stories will center on Thanksgiving.
St. Jude's biking fund raiser set for Oran park
The preregistration deadline for the St. Jude's Bike-A-Thon is 4 p.m. Thursday. The bike-a-thon is to be held at Oran City Park at 1 p.m. Saturday. Classy Chassy Country will coordinate the event this year. All proceeds will benefit St. Jude's. For more information, call (573) 262-2203.
Euchre tournament to be held Saturday
Registration for a euchre tournament will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Home and School Parish Center in Scott City. A barbecue dinner will also be held at that time. Parents group going to line dance class

Residents of Heartland Care return with medals
Residents of Heartland Care and Rehab Center recently returned from the Missouri Health Care Association District V Golden Age Games with medals and a traveling trophy. The games were held in Sikeston, Mo., this year.
Area nursing facilities from the Bootheel to Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and Poplar Bluff, Mo., got together for hog calling, cow milking, dancing, basketball, horseshoes, bingo and a talent contest.

Cheerleading clinic scheduled for Saturday
The Southeast Missouri State University Sundancers and Cheerleaders annual Sunbeam clinic will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Student Recreation Center on campus. The clinic is open to girls and boys ages 4 to 12. Cost includes a clinic T-shirt, snack and admission to the Southeast Football game vs. Tennessee State at 1 p.m. The Sunbeams will perform during halftime.
