Walk to help defeat ALS Saturday at Arena Park
The walk to raise money for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis research will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Arena Park. Money raised will be used to improve the quality of life for those affected by the disease commonly called Lou Gehrig's disease and to support further research. Jackson businesses get spotlight in showcase
The Jackson Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business Showcase from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Jackson High School gymnasium to promote services and products to the public. Cape Girardeau library announces events
During October the library will host a Lewis and Clark traveling exhibit from the Missouri Historical Society.
The library's Sunday hours, from 1 to 5 p.m., will resume Sunday and continue through the month of April.
The first meeting of the great books series will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Hirsch Room. The book's title is "Facing East from Indian Country: A Native History of Early America" by Daniel Richter.

The reunion is for all descendants of Caspar Heinrich Klaus. This year marks the 160th anniversary of his coming from Germany to the United States in 1843.
