Nature Center offers Scouting event

The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center n Cape Girardeau's North County Park will present "Scoutin' Around," an event for first- to sixth-grade Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Activities focus on badges related to animal characteristics, aquatic habitats, venomous animals, birds and more. Hikes, discovery tables and career information will be offered to help connect Scouts with the land and assist them in meeting their requirements.To register, contact the Nature Center at 290-5218.

Southeast Missouri Pachyderm Club meets

The Southeast Missouri Pachyderm Club will meet for a meal at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at Dexter Bar-B-Que in Cape Girardeau, with meeting to start at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will follow. Call Gerald Adams at 243-4199 for more information.

Mrs. Missouri pageant applications due in Feb.

Local women ages 18 and up are being sought as delegates for the 2007 Mrs. Missouri America Pageant to be held April 27 and 28. The deadline to enter is Feb. 10.
