COMMERCE, Mo. -- The sixth annual Floodfest, sponsored by Commerce Community Tourism, will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Commerce, Mo.

This year's pageant will kick off activities Friday at 6 p.m. Categories include Little Jr. Miss and Mr., ages newborn through 2 years; Little Miss and Mr., ages 3 through 5; Miss and Mr., ages 6 through 8; Junior Miss, ages 9 through 12; and Teen Miss, ages 13 through 15. Girls' wear will be fancy (Showboat) and boys will wear western (cowboy) apparel.

A street dance will start at approximately 7:30 p.m. near Water Street.

Saturday's activities begin at 10 a.m. with Classy Chassy Country in the city park. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Horseshoe and washer tournaments start at noon.

Carnival rides, games, food, stage coach rides, a nail driving contest, tug-of-war, hula hoop contest, a cake walk, turtle race, mule jumping and a dance from 8 p.m. until midnight are other activities scheduled throughout the day.

On Sunday, Classy Chassy Country will be back on the main stage at 10 a.m. Also on Sunday are horseshoe and washer tournaments, food, games and a karaoke contest. Karaoke contestants may call Becki at 262-3000 or Leroy at 262-2203 for information.

A team roping contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the riverfront arena. For more information, call Jerry Menees at 264-3899, Theresa Wright at 264-0038 or Tim Glasco at (618) 893-4649. In case of rain this event will be rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 6.

Food on-site will include barbecue from the Corner Bar and Grill in Benton, Mo., hamburgers and more from the American Legion, and an 11 a.m. chicken and dumplings dinner Saturday and Sunday at the Methodist Church.

A jail will be set up in the city square. "Bail money" will go to the scholarship fund of the Better Community Club.

The Commerce Museum will be open Saturday and Sunday until 5 p.m. The museum is currently collecting names of people who attended the Commerce/Anderson School.
