COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Two teenagers were killed Friday after their car ran a stop sign and was broad-sided by another vehicle, police said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a car driven by Adam Popejoy, 16, of Columbia, was headed westbound at 4:25 p.m. on U.S. 40 when Popejoy ran a stop sign and drove into the path of a vehicle driven by Michael Dill, 36, of Pilot Grove.

Popejoy and a passenger, Amanda Henderson, 16, of Columbia, were pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said.

A third person in the car, Rhiannon Galloway, 16, of Columbia, was taken to a Columbia hospital with moderate injuries.
