COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Columbia police are investigating the city's first homicide of the year.

Capt. Brad Nelson said 22-year-old Nathaniel Bentley was shot in the head and died early Tuesday in what appears to be a home invasion robbery. Officers said several people were at the duplex when the shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m.

Police believe the crime was not random.
