Denise Bailey of Jackson won first place in the Colossal Cookie Contest with her recipe for Santa's Whiskers cookies.

Bailey won a 26-week subscription to the Southeast Missourian.

Second place went to Carol Bierschwal of Cape Girardeau, who submitted her recipe for Nutty Chocolate Caramel Bars.

Bierschwal won a 13-week subscription and a comic strip umbrella.

Marjorie Swan of Pocahontas won third place with her recipe, Nina's Rich, Chewy Oatmeal Cookie, and her prize was a comic strip umbrella.

Other semi-finalists included: Helen Parker-Calhoun of Bell City; Denise McDowell of Jackson; Marianne Schroeder of Cape Girardeau; Sandy Minter of Cape Girardeau; Judy Reed of Jackson; Carolyn Pickens of Jackson; Betty McCart of Cape Girardeau and Mary Jeanne Weber of Jackson.

Each will receive copies of Jean Bell Mosley's "Seeds on the Wind" for their baking efforts.
