The Oak Ridge Homemakers FCE met on Aug. 21, at the home of Jackie Brandtner in Cape Girardeau.
The meeting was called to order by president Jean Rehak. Marilyn Retherford gave the devotional with two poems "Summer Day" by Bonnie Lyons and "The Signature of God" by Clay Harrison.
Georgia Segraves was welcomed into the club as a new member.
Pat Hecht gave the treasurer's report which was approved. There is $904.12 in the treasury. No secretary report was given this month.
Membership dues for next year were collected from all those present.
Betty Dellinger was presented with "Books for Newborns" from Retherford because of a new addition to Dellinger's family.
Barbara Barks and Dellinger were the only members from the club attending the MAFCE Conference held Monday through Wednesday in Jefferson City, Missouri.
There was $500 worth of school supplies were divided between Jefferson Elementary and St. Mary Cathedral School in Cape Girardeau and the Salvation Army "Stuff the Bus" event, from the club's donations. Jackie Brandtner led the discussion on whether or not to continue this donation next year.
Thank-you cards were read from the Eisleban Lutheran Church in Scott City for the memorials made in memory of Peggy Barks and from the Missouri Foundation for Family and Community in memory of Mary Dee Ford. Both of these ladies will be greatly missed.
The slate of new officers for next year was presented: Dellinger, president; Brandtner, vice president; Debra Baughn, secretary; Victoria Scherer, treasurer; and Retherford, games and devotional leader.
Jean Rehak passed around a survey for club members to check off which Leader Training lessons they would like to hear next year.
Barbara Barks talked about a trifold display being made as the club's contribution to the military for the MAFCE Conference.
She then presented the program on special needs children. Also a poem entitled "Heavens Special Child" by Edna Massimilla was read.
International meal next month will be on Nepal.
The next meeting will be Sept. 18 at the Elks Club in Jackson.
