Capaha Scottish Rite Women's Club
The July meeting of the Capaha Scottish Rite Women's Club was held at Delmonico's in Jackson. Husbands were guests.
Luella Armstrong presided and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Joyce Peerman voiced a table prayer.
Irene Tindall, Darlene McLemore and Ramona Bellis led the group in bingo.
Laura Corse and Doyle Mouser won door prizes. Corse invited club members to her home for the August meeting. Everyone is to bring a covered dish.
Exchange Club
The Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau met July 15 at Port Cape Girardeau. The American Cancer Crusade volunteer gave a report on the various fund-raising projects for research.
The Boy's State candidate sponsored by the club, Douglas Marvin Overbey, gave a report on the activities at Warrenburg College during the weeklong event. Overbey is a student at Notre Dame Regional High School.
Joe Perez, president, reported that the park shelter's new roof should be finished soon.
The next meeting will be Aug. 19. Larry Simmon is scheduled to present the program.
FCE National Convention
Mary Klaproth of the Town & Country FCE Club was among several people from Missouri attending the National Association for Family and Community Education 2003 Annual Conference held in Albuquerque, N.M., on July 25 through 28. FCE members from across the United States attended workshops on health issues such as diabetes and Alzheimer's disease.
Klaproth received the Heart of Missouri FCE Award at the awards luncheon and Missouri received third place in Action for the project, "Child Advocacy Day."
FCE members also renewed their vision in the organization's mission to strengthen individuals, families and communities.
