St. Mary CCW
St. Mary Council of Catholic Women met Aug. 18 in the Monsignor Huels Room at St. Mary Cathedral Church. The program on he history of the U.S. Secret Service was given by Paul Nenninger who told of his experience as an agent for 26 years.
Diane Schaefer, vice president, sent 11 birthday cards and six get-well cards. Margie Huber, organization commission, reported that a May Circle leader is needed. Dolores Gibbar reported that two bereavement dinners had been served.
Hazel Blank, legislative commission, distributed copies of the report she gave at the Diocesan meeting and information about the Missouri Catholic Conference annual assembly to be held on Oct. 1 at the state Capitol in Jefferson City, Mo.
Items for the layettes and family food boxes will be collected until the September meeting.
Blank, CWU representative, announced that the Annual Awareness luncheon will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Sept. 23. She also reported that the CROP sale and luncheon were successful.
Refreshments were served by the July Circle.
The Progressive Club recently met at the home of Pat Stehr with Becky Heuer acting as co-hostess. The group watched a DVD, "Sisters of the House," presented by Anita Renfro.
