The Town and County FCE club met Aug. 11 in the home of Linda Thompson.
The hostess gave the devotion, titled "The month of August." Mary Klaproth presented a game on cakes. Roll call was given by Sue Jones and the minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. Donna Woolsey gave the treasurer's report and it was approved as read. "Pennies for Friendship" were collected.
Klaproth, president, reported 22 members and guests were at the club picnic in July.
Membership forms were handed out and dues were collected for 2017. On Aug. 9, members took ice cream, cookies and sundae toppings to Cottonwood Treatment Center for a potluck lunch on Aug. 10.
The following announcements were made by the president: County Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Sept. 1 at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Jackson.
The MAFCE Conference will be held Sept. 28 to 30 at Osage Beach, Missouri. Darlene McCain, Klaproth and Jones plan to attend.
The club has been invited to attend the 100th anniversary of the Oak Ridge club at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the Extension Center in Jackson.
A motion was made by Karen Murphy and seconded by Aileen Hamilton to accept the slate of officers for 2017. New officers will assume their duties in January. They are as follows: Sue Jones, president; Lois Seabaugh, vice president; Linda Thompson, secretary; Darlene McCain, treasurer; Mary Klaproth, reporter; Joyce King, cards and flowers chair. Induction of officers will be held at the December meeting.
Members will be hostesses for the December County Council meeting this year. A discussion about caterer and menu was held.
The National MAFCE conference was held July 12 to 17 in Memphis, Tennessee. Six members from Missouri attended the meeting for a total of 81 people at the conference.
Sue Jones gave the program on technology. A true or false quiz was given after the program. Hearth Fire No. 58 was read, "Someone's asking Â… What are your fingers saying when typing on an electronic device?"
Club out will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 25 at Gordonville Grill.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Donna Woolsey. Lois Seabaugh will present the program on "Who Gets Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate?" Each member is to bring two items to be delivered to the Lutheran Home for bingo prizes.
