The John Guild Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution recently welcomed a new member. Lisken Lynn Lewis is a descendent of Thomas Wicker, a proven patriot from North Carolina during the American Revolution.
The Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Women met at Cedar Street with June Warder, vice president, presiding.
The Fall Bazaar has been set for Oct. 8. The circles will meet on July 31 following the potluck meal for final plans.
Clara Engelmann announced that she is planning the December meeting for both circles to be held at her home at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 6. She will provide the main course of the meal and ask that members bring candy, dessert or fruit.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Aug. 8.
The Lamplighters FCE Club met June 16 at the home of Judy Myers. Each member was met at their home by a member of "Come as you are" committee and was commissioned to drop everything and to come to meeting as they were dressed at that point.
After the meeting was called to order by the president, JoAnn Hahs, the hostess, gave a devotional titled "All I ever need to know I learned in kindergarten."
Hahs read the grant written to the state foundation of FCE to pay for the clothes protectors (bibs) to be made for the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. The group will meet Tuesday to make the protectors.
A thank-you note was read from the family of Jackie Kurre for food given to the family during the sickness of her daughter-in-law.
It was decided to provide meals for a sick club member for two weeks.
A birthday celebration and exchange of gifts from secret pals was held.
The next meeting will be July 21 at the home of Roberta Seabaugh.
