Following lunch at Delmonicos, the Lamplighters FCE met for their April meeting at the University of Missouri Extension Center's Harrison Room. Jackie Kurre, president, called the meeting to order. 14 members answered the roll call with a plant, seed or bulb exchange.
During the business session, a report and evaluation of Lamplighters hosting All Club's Day was given, thank-you notes for All Clubs Day from Town and Country and Kage were read, and a thank-you note from the SCOPE Club for helping send Taylor Bock on the Sophomore Pilgrimage was shared. It was reported that four members attended the leader training meetings.
The Books for Newborn Committee was reminded that books are to be delivered on May 15.
A $25 donation was given to Salvation Army.
The flower beds at Oak Ridge School were to be weeded May 2.
Five members, Linda Freeman, Verla Mangels, Karen McLane, Linda Sebaugh, and Jo Ann Hahs, shared that they would be attending the spring district meeting in Farrar, Mo., on April 24.
Guest Dortha Strack presented a program on how to start, cultivate, and save heritage seeds. Following her presentation, she gave each member a package of heritage tomato and pepper seeds.
Bev Meyer and Karen Eakers were recognized as having April birthdays.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 17 at Mangel's home. McLane will have the program on household hints.
