The John Guild Chapter held its regular meeting April 16 at Dexter Barbecue in Jackson.
Guest speaker Lemira Parks, honorary state regent, vice president general NSDAR, presented a program on the Boone's Lick Trail markers.
Parks portrayed Mrs. Mark (Mary) Salisbury, Missouri State regent 1914 to 1916. Salisbury served as chairman of the Old Trails Road Committee and her committee was responsible for placement and all arrangements for the Boone's Lick Road Markers. The year 2013 marked the 100th anniversary of the placement of the markers.
Several members of the chapter traveled the trail in 2013. The trail begins in St. Louis and ends in New Franklin, Missouri, where the Sante Fe Trail begins.
Parks wore a 1913 costume for her presentation.
Janet Bockting was presented for membership.
The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. May 21 at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson. The program will be a report on state conference.
