Roberts Homemakers

The Roberts Homemakers Club met April 13 at Riverside Regional Library in Jackson after lunch at Delmonico's. Judy Bryant presided over the meeting.

A card and stationary auction was held with proceeds going towards the food pantry. Members also brought food items for the food pantry.

Kay Millham gave the program, "The History of the Onion."

The next meeting will be on May 11 at the library after lunch at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Jackson.

Alpha Mu Master

Alpha Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met in the home of Marsha Parrish for the April meeting. Linda Metheny, president, presided over the meeting.

Chapter members attending gave a report on the production of "Guys and Dolls" presented by Southeast Missouri State University.

An invitation was received for the annual all chapter Founders Day Banquet to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson. It will be held by Preceptor Epsilon Tau Chapter.

It was decided to hold the annual end-of-the-year dinner at the N'Orleans on May 23.

Judie Herbst reported that she had met with the Omega Tau Chapter to confer preceptor degrees on three of its members.

Dennis Rigdon presented the program for evening. He represents Project Hope. He spoke about the various opportunities and benefits available through Project Hope. Members brought personal items, household items, etc., that were presented to Rigdon. The chapter decided to make a contribution monthly to Project Hope for the next year.

The next meeting will be on May 9 at the home of Metheny.

Zonta Club

The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau met April 5 at the University Center at Southeast Missouri State University.

The guest speaker was Denise Wimp, coordinator of First Call for Help whose mission is to provide one-stop social services for five counties. The organization was started in 1999 and has received more than 14,000 calls.

Other business included the approval of officers for the upcoming year. They are, Cheryl Hill, president; Maria Swan Childress, president elect; Juanita Penefield, vice president; Diane Gammon, secretary; Marshal Haskell, treasurer; Kara Clark, director of finance; and Heather Brooks, director of membership.

Plans were discussed regarding the upcoming Women of Achievement luncheon, assembly of literacy packets and the hosting of the District 7 business meeting to be held Sept. 30 through Oct. 2.

Oma Brooks Circle

The Oma Brooks Circle of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church met April 19 at the church. Rosely Bechel had the program on "A Heavenly Father Who Loves Me." Pastor Kimbrel did the mission study. Hostess was Karen Baker.

Wonderworkers FCE

The Wonderworkers FCE Club met on April 14 at the home of Dorothy Lichtenegger. A card of thanks was read from the Girardot Center in Cape Girardeau for a donation of Easter treats. A donation was given to the Relay for Life.

A report on All Clubs Day was given which was held on March 28 at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Jackson. Those attending were June Landgraf, Margie W. Reisenbichler, Joy Engelhart, Nelda Starzinger, Margie E. Reisenbichler and Lichtenegger.

A report on the leaders training meeting was held on April 11 at the extension office was given. Those attending that meeting were Margie W. Reisenbichler, Engelhart, Starzinger and Margie E. Reisenbichler.

Jo Boyer gave the program on APPLE and tips on drug discounts and Medicare. Also a short lesson on hummingbirds was given by Landgraf.

The next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. on May 12 at the home of Landgraf.

Xi Nu Phi

The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met April 19 at the home of Sandy Ross.

Cathy Pancoast reported she had received the information for program topics from International. Members voted on the girl of the year. A discussion was held about a ways and means project for the chapter at the state convention to be held in Cape Girardeau Oct. 7 through 9.

Founder's Day Banquet will be held Thursday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson.

Ross presented the program on the Ronald McDonald House.

The next meeting will be on May 3 at Kiefner Brothers. Hostess will be Kathy Kiefner.

Capaha Scottish Rite Women's Club

The April meeting of the Capaha Scottish Rite Women's Club was held at Delmonico's in Jackson. Luella Armstrong, president, presided over the meeting.

Doris Hurst, program chairman, and Norma Yost read articles titled "The Old Farmer," "As It Is" and "Busy."

The May meeting will be held at Delmonico's with Debbie Hay as hostess and Armstrong as program chairman.
