Town & Country FCE
Town & Country FCE Club met April 10 at the home of Shirley Heise. Heise read a poem titled "April Gifts" for devotion. Sally Tierney was welcomed as a visitor.
Linda Thompson thanked everyone for their help with "All Clubs Day." Town & Country was the host for the event.
Mary Klaproth announced some FCE trips coming up: The Muny in St. Louis on Aug. 5; Alton, Ill., on Oct. 18; and Branson, Mo., on Nov 14 and 15.
The FCE District meeting will be held May 2 in Poplar Bluff. Town & Country will provide a centerpiece.
Plans were made for a dessert stand at the Poplar Bluff Air Show on May 16.
An end-of-school party will be held at Parkview School in May. Toiletries and bingo game gifts were taken to the Lutheran Home.
Everyone was asked to think about ideas for the club's booth at SEMO District Fair in September.
Klaproth gave a program on "Financial Planning for Later Life." Darlene McCain gave a report on honey. Both passed out brochures.
Club Out will be at Cracker Barrel at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The next meeting will be May 8 at the home of Norma Schreiber. The program will be soap making.
Alpha Mu Master
Members of Alpha Mu Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Vicki McKinney on April 14. Carole Calvin, president, presided over the business meeting.
Members were reminded of the Founder's Day Banquet to be held Thursday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Charlotte Bess and Bobbie Woodard announced the end of the year meeting will be held May 19 at N'Orleans Restaurant in Cape Girardeau.
The final pledge training for Bernie Gardner was held with an open book test taken by all chapter members. The Ritual of Jewels will be held for Gardner on May 12.
Swaparoo drawing was won by Gwen Nussbaum and secret sister gifts were exchanged.
McKinney and Gardner presented the program on the "Songs of Beta Sigma Phi" and "Everything I Need to Know About Life I Learned from the Easter Bunny."
Joyce Hays will be hostess of the next meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 12.
St. Mary CWC
The St. Mary Council of Catholic Women met April 10 in Maria Haus. Glenda Quinn gave the program "Smooth Moves by Glenda," special services for seniors and their families. She explained the many things she can help with when relocating to a new home.
Twelve ladies wore Easter bonnets, many their own creations. Names were drawn to award prizes, and winners were Mary Stevens, Judy Vickery, Sondra Pobst and Catherline Dunn.
A successful bake/white elephant sale was held on April 6 and 7. One bereavement dinner was served.
Items collected for the Health Kits this month were toothpaste, toothbrushes and combs. Any or all of the items can be donated anytime before September.
Five members attended the DCCW Spring Assembly held April 18 and 19 in Springfield, Mo. It was voted to send two members to the National Convention in Minneapolis, Minn., in September.
The next meeting will be May 15 in Maria Haus. The annual May crowning will be held. Strawberry shortcake will be served by the May circle.
Capaha Scottish Rite Women
The Capaha Scottish Rite Women held their April meeting at Delmonico's Restaurant in Jackson. Norma Yost and Junior Birkman were guests. Louella Armstrong, president, presided over the meeting.
Evelyn Ritchie, Doris Hurst and Mary Mouser were appointed as a nominating committee. Horst was program chair for the evening and read "The Miracle of Spring" and "Buds and Bonnets." Afterward the group played bingo.
Junior and Lillian Birkman won the hostess gifts.
The May meeting will be at the Country Kettle in Biehle, Mo.
