Lamplighters FCE Club met March 16 at First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge for a trip to tour the Lutheran Heritage Center and Museum in Altenburg, Missouri. Members were greeted at the museum by a docent. As the group toured the museum, he answered questions about the history of the items. After the tour, members headed to Perryville, Missouri.
The group met for lunch at the Ponderosa Steakhouse. After the meal, Judy Strickland, president, called the business meeting to order.
JoAnn Hahs read the minutes for February, and Linda Sebaugh gave the treasurer's report. Both reports were approved as read.
Spring Leader Training will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 10 in Farrar, Missouri.
Verla Mangels reported that Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship requested club members to provide individually wrapped sweets and workers for the food stand May 6. Hahs made a motion that the club go forward with this request, and Mangels seconded the motion.
Hahs reported that 32 blankets, 21 lap pads and one snake were completed at the Autism Sew Day. June 5 is the next Autism Sew Day.
Beverly Meyer will host the April 20 club meeting at 1 p.m. in her home. Roll call will be a food craving.
The John Guild Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, met with the Nancy Hunter Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, for a joint luncheon meeting March 17 at the Cape Girardeau Country Club to host the Missouri State Regent Susan Bowman.
Following the lunch, Bowman gave an informative presentation about the 100th anniversary of World War I. She also told about the progress being made on the remodeling of the basement kitchen at the state headquarters (Roselyn Heights) in Booneville, Missouri.
Two new members were installed by Linda Hutson and Bowman. New members are Elizabeth Keene and Catherine Schumer.
