Lamplighters FCE; Kage FCE Club; Zonta Club

Wonderworkers FCE Extension

The Wonderworkers FCE Extension Club met at the Red Barn with June Landgraf as hostess. She also gave the opening devotion titled "Whispers." Pledges to the flag were recited.

A report was given on All Clubs Day, held on March 27 at the Extension Center in Jackson. Nell Kieninger was presented a 20-year pin for her membership and her work in the FCE Extension Club.

The District FCE Extension meeting that is to be held April 27 at the Extension Center was discussed. The club agreed to bring two breakfast items.

The club also voted to have a booth at the SEMO District Fair in September. Volunteer hours were given, with 45 hours of volunteering services on various projects.

Theresa Taylor was a guest and gave a program on her life and organizing the Vision House in Cape Girardeau. Gifts were given for the organization.

The next meeting will be in the home of Nell Starzinger on May 11 with the program on the new food pyramid.

Lamplighters FCE

President JoAnn Hahs called the meeting of the Lamplighters FCE together on March 16 at the home of Roberta Seabaugh.

Hahs continued the theme "Celebrating You -- Woman to Woman."

Shamrock cards were given to each member with a gift of pedicure and manicure file.

Members were reminded of the All Clubs Day event, which took place on March 27.

Bev Meyer reported that seven members will be attending the play "Romeo and Juliet" on April 27 at the Southeast Missouri State University's Rose Theatre.

Linda Seabaugh gave a report on the County Council meeting held March 3. She also gave a program on gardening for birds and butterflies.

Meyer gave a short program on TV violence.

Plans for an upcoming blood drive were discussed.

In July there will be a bus trip to the St. Louis Muny Opera to see "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers."

The next meeting will take place April 20 at the home of Hahs.

Kage FCE Club

Inez Statler was hostess to the Kage FCE Club meeting held April 13. President Dortha Strack conducted the business meeting.

Reports were given on All Clubs Day, held March 27 and hosted by Kage Club. County FCE club members in attendance numbered 44.

There will be a Southeast District FCE meeting on April 27 at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Jackson with registration set for 9 to 9:30 a.m.

It was reported by Barbara Marshall that the club contributed 111 items to the FISH food pantry last month. It was voted to send $100 to the Red Cross to help recent tornado victims.

Marshall, Barbara Schaffner, Opal Collins, Martha Slaten and Statler expressed willingness to read stories to children in kindergarten through third grade.

Schaffner presented the program on sewing shortcuts.

The next meeting will be May 11 at the home of Strack; she will present a program on gardening for birds.

Zonta Club

The Zonta Club of Cape held its monthly meeting on April 4 at the University Center. Judge Ben Lewis, 32nd Judicial Circuit, presented a program on changes in the law following the Equal Rights Amendment.

Angelina Guilos, the winner of the Young Women in Public Affairs award, was also present to share highlights of her essay.

Upcoming events were discussed, which included the Go Red for Women Luncheon on April 7, participation in the Relay for Life on April 28 and Habitat for Humanity on May 6.

The new slate of officers for 2006 to 2007 were approved as follows: President, Maria Childress; President Elect, Polly Holton; vice-President, Erin Dial; Secretary, Linda Garner; Treasurer, Jennifer Hendrickson; Fund Raising, Debra Holzhauer; Service, Kim Schlitt; Honorary Board Member, Cheryl Hill; Finance, Kara Clark; and Membership, Heather Brooks.

The installation banquet will be held May 3 at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
