St. Mary CCW
The St. Mary Council of Catholic Women met Feb. 16. The Rev. Patrick Nwokoye showed slides of his recent trip to Italy. A reception celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bishop John Leibrecht's ordination into the priesthood will be held following Mass on March 23. The January, April, May, July and September circles will sponsor the spring bake sale and garage sale to be held in the school gym from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 1. Tables for the garage sale can be rented for $10. Lunch will be served. Items were collected for the Women's Safe House. The next meeting will be held on March 16 in the the Monsignor Huels Room of the parish office building.
The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Feb. 21 at the home of Sharon Hinkebein. Plans were discussed about the Founder's Day banquet which Xi Nu Phi will host. Sheryl Smith was congratulated on being chosen for the International Valentine Contest. Her picture appeared in the February issue of The Torch. Hinkebein was crowned as the chapter's Valentine queen. The next social event will be a trip to the Nashville, Tenn., Flea Market on March 24 and 25. Hinkebein presented the program on personality assessment. The next meeting will be Tuesday at the home of Debbie Balsano.
