Lorilee Petrich Short has been nominated to stand for election as Missouri State society treasurer. The election will be held at the state conference April 14 through 17 at the Embassy Suites, St. Charles Convention Center, St. Charles, Missouri.
Lorilee is currently serving the State Society as corresponding secretary and John Guild Chapter as treasurer.
The Nancy Hunter Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met on Jan. 27 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Charlotte Slinkard, regent, introduced Patti House, who presented the program about the role of women as nurses during the Civil War.
A business meeting followed the program. The President General's January message to the chapters was read by vice regent Carolyn Webb. The National Defense chairman, Jan McClanahan, gave the National Defense report.
Ruth Lang, treasurer, reported that an acknowledgment was received for the Christmas gifts sent to the students at Allene Groves Cottage at Tamassee School, Tamassee, South Carolina. Sue LeBruyere, DAR schools chairman, reported that food product labels have been sent to the school.
Carol Robinson, chairman, 50th Commemoration of the Vietnam War, reported on the committee's work at the Missouri Veterans Home. Members were reminded to record their community volunteer hours on the national "Celebrate America" website.
Slinkard, Webb and Lang were elected delegates to the Missouri State DAR Conference, to be held April 15 to 17 in St. Charles.
The next meeting, a reception for DAR Good Citizens, will be on Feb. 24 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.
