The Town and Country FCE Club held a Valentine's Party for the students at Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center on Feb. 13. Following the party, members took bingo prizes to the Lutheran Home.
Mary Klaproth gave members the FCE tour information for 2012: Tours are planned to The Muny in St. Louis, to see "Chicago" on June 26; to see "The Sound of Music" at Stages in Kirkwood, Mo., on Aug. 8; and to see Carl Hurley, humorist, in Draffenville, Ky., on Sept. 8.
Betty Dellinger was hostess at her home for the Feb. 21 meeting of Oak Ridge FCE Club with 11 members present. President Jean Rehak opened the meeting.
Lee Anderson led the devotion with an Irish blessing and a poem on friendship.
"Name a heart-healthy food and what its importance is" was the roll call for members.
Secretary Nelda Crader read the January report, and it was approved. No treasurer's report was given.
The quarterly FCE council meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Missouri Extension Center in Jackson. All County FCE reports are due by March 15.
Plans were made for members Marilyn Retherford, Lee Anderson, Jean Rehak, Barbara Barks, Crader and Anderson to attend the leadership training on March 19. Registration is at 9:15 a.m. with classes starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Missouri Extension Center in Jackson.
All Cape County FCE club day is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 2 at Missouri Extension Center with Lamplighters Club serving as hostess and Cheerful Country Doers in charge of devotions.
The county FCE autism project will not be scheduled for March. It will resume again at 9 a.m. April 9 at the Extension Center.
Oak Ridge FCE Club voted to donate funds to send another boy to Missouri Boys State this year.
A card was received from the SCOPE Club for the contribution the Oak Ridge FCE Club made for the Sophomore Pilgrimage to send a student to Jefferson City, Mo., to study citizenship. This will be the 43rd year in which a student will be sent.
Peggy Barks gave the National FCE Hearth Fire Series 19, Disaster Preparedness, with visual aids. She also handed out folders to help in a time of disaster. She attended a FCE fall leadership training in Farrar, Mo., in October.
Pat Hecht bought and gave each member a box of Christmas cards to be used in sending to men and women in the military in November.
It was suggested that all members bring a bottle of bleach to be donated to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
Dellinger served many homemade desserts.
St. Mary Council of Catholic Women held their meeting on Feb. 16 in the Huels room. Kate Schaefer led in praying the Hail Mary.
The minutes of the January meeting were read and approved. Copies of the treasurer's report were distributed.
Commission reports were given.
Judy Stricker, service, suggested cards be made available at the next meeting to write a note to the members of the RCIA class.
Nancy King will ask what is needed for the parish Easter egg hunt.
Diane Schaefer suggested a game basket for the spring assembly silent auction. Several members volunteered to bring items to the next meeting.
The Region VII Council of Catholic Women Retreat will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Scott City. Slightly used purses for the spring assembly should be turned in at this time.
The spring assembly will be held April 20 and 21 at Drury Inn in Cape Girardeau. Vilet Robert and Evelyn Buhs will prepare dinner for the officer's meeting April 19.
Marge Conway gave details about the Catholic Campus Ministry wine tasting fundraiser to be held Saturday at Deerfield Lodge.
A thank-you note from Birthright was read.
The spirituality and service commission chairwomen were appointed to the nomination committee for candidates for president and vice president. Mary Buxton will be nominated for vice president.
Dolores Gibbar reported that one bereavement dinner was served.
The next meeting will be held on March 15 in the Huels Room. Mary Yaremko will present the program on the liturgy and customs of the Ukrainian Eastern Rite Catholic Church.
