The Town & Country FCE Club met at the home of Sue Jones for its May meeting. There were nine members and two guests present. Dinner had a Finland theme.

Mary Klaproth, president, opened the meeting. She thanked everyone for the 100 percent attendance at the district meeting in Doniphan, Mo. The fall district meeting will be held in Greenville, Mo. She also thanked everyone for attending the signing of the proclamation for National Day of the Family. A special thank you was given to Lois Seabaugh for delivering the Golden Books to Southeast Missouri Hospital. Special thank-you notes were read from Daniel and Carolyn Thompson on their 50th anniversary and also from Cottonwood Treatment Center.

Plans were discussed on the following: end of school party for Parkview School on Wednesday; Clover Kid 4-H Camp; Relay for Life; $200 scholarship program available from the Cape Girar-deau County Extension Council; and an invitation from the Lutheran Home for the volunteer luncheon to be held Thursday.

Plans are underway for the National FCE Conference in August in Omaha, Neb. Those planning to attend are Darlene McCain, Lois Seabaugh, Carolyn Thompson, Jones and Klaproth.

Jane Hamilton Smith, state FCE International chairwoman, reported to Klaproth that the Cape Girardeau County International report and the essay that she prepared had received first place.

Food items were collected for the Food Pantry.

A video presentation on Finland was presented by Klaproth, Carolyn Thompson and Linda Thompson.

Club Out will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Panera Bread in Cape Girardeau.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. June 14 at Ryan's Family Steak House.

St. Vincent CCW

The St. Vincent Council of Catholic Women met May 7 with a covered-dish supper. Co-hostesses were Carolyn Spinner and Dorothy Ressel.

The business meeting was opened by Carol Drummond, president. The treasurer's report was given by Pat Harrison and the minutes were read by Shirley Cracraft, secretary. Both were approved.

Joan Eggimann reported on the spring assembly that she attended April 27 and 28 in Springfield, Mo. She gave handouts on "Put Pizzaz in Your Parish."

She also gave a report on the luncheon provided by the council for the SEMO Catholic Campus Ministries on May 2 at the Newman Center at Southeast Missouri State University.

It was announced that St. Vincent will provide and serve "Vincent Vittles," a social ministry, June 30 in the parish center.

The Rev. David Hulshof, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and assistant spiritual moderator for the Dioceasan Countil of Catholic Women, spoke about notifying legislators about concerns people may have and because they represent constiuents, they should hear from them.

A new circle leader, Shari Landewe, was announced. She will join with Carol Koehler as August Circle leaders.

Hulshof presided over the installation of new officers for the coming year, beginning June 1. They are Harrison, president; Cracraft, vice president; Ruth George, secretary; and Beverly McMeel, treasurer.

The next meeting will be held Aug. 27.

Arnsberg 4-H Club

The Arnberg 4-H Club met May 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim with 25 members, six leaders and three guests present. Ethan Seyer, president, presided over the meeting. Michaela Oehl and Kelly Hahs led the songs, and Dakota Oehl led the pledges.

Business discussed was a club banner, 60-year T-shirts, selling shirts as a fund-raiser, and local achievement will be at 1 p.m. June 24.

Dustin Oehl had computers and goat meetings, Kelly Hahs had a bucket calf meeting, Rachel Seyer had an entomology meeting and Tyler Lappe, Dustin Oehl, Ethan Seyer and Chelsea Seyer went to the state meat identification contest in Columbia, Mo.
