Arnsberg 4-H Club; American Legion 158; -- From staff reports

Arnsberg 4-H Club

Arnberg 4-H Club met Dec. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. Ethan Seyer, president, presided over the meeting. Michaela Oehl and Kelly Hahs were song leaders, and Ryan Below led the pledges.

Recognition banquet awards were acknowledged. The club received the outstanding community service project; Chester Seyer received the new leader award; Dustin Oehl received outstanding 4-Her under 14, computers, goats, poultry and rabbits; Amanda Lappe received arts and crafts, clothing; Kyle Rohde, beef; Chelsea Seyer, beef and bucket calf; Ethan Seyer received beef and bucket calf; Hunter Seyer received bucket calf; Michaela Oehl received cats and photography; Tyler Lappe received foods; Dakota Oehl received poultry; and Ryan Pohlman received beef.

Members that completed the 4-H year are: Hunter Seyer, Amanda Lappe, Chelsea Seyer, Kelly Hahs, Cody Hahs, Michaela Oehl, Katie Oehl, Tyler Lappe, Kyle Rohde, Dustin Oehl, Dakota Oehl and Ethan Seyer.

The club tabled a banner idea for the fairs and asked for volunteers for the banner committee. Volunteers are Kaycie Seyer, Ethan Seyer, Dakota Oehl, Dustin Oehl and Amanda Lappe.

American Legion 158

The Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson met Nov. 14. Dick Decker, commander, opened the meeting.

John Hopkins introduced David Wendell for a program on aid and attendance for homebound assistance for veterans and their spouses.

Decker presented a check to Barbara Lawyerly, a representative of the Veterans Association Home Christmas party.

Larry Koehler gave the financial report. P.M. Kurre reported membership at 611. Mike Strack gave the flag report. and David Hitt gave the honor guard report. Leonard Adams reported on dances. Jack Latimer gave the club report.

Jim Nelson reported on contributions made to the American Legion Memorial Scholarship. Contributions were made by the post in memory of Marshall Walker; by L.D. and Rosemay Smith in memory of Cpl. Jeremy Shank; by Lloyd and Inez Masterson in memory of Shelby Farrow and from John Crites in memory of Rusby Adams.

Decker discussed raising the bond on the officers who deal with money to $25,000. The motion was made and passed.

David Ludwig reported on the Veterans Day ceremony and parade. Keith Seabaugh presented Deck and Ludwig plaques for Toot Our Horn and Post Americanism Awards.

Latimer made a motion to sponsor the C Scout Ship to furnish a place to meet and give them $20. The motion passed. He also made a motion to donate $200 to the Elks Lodge for Christmas baskets for the needy, and the motion passed.
