Lamplighters FCE

Lamplighters FCE had its December meeting and Christmas Party in the home of Beverly Meyer. 12 members repeated answered the roll call by sharing plans for Christmas. The hostess then had everyone sing "O Come All Ye Faithful" as a devotional thought.

Five members attended the Dec. 2 FCE County Council meeting. Members read to seven classes at Oak Ridge Elementary in November. Twenty chair organizers have been made and will be delivered to the second-grade class at Oak Ridge Elementary School. The club's display in Cape County Park was put in place Nov. 20, and that an abundance of necklaces and "bling" had been delivered to Linda Freeman for Bingo prizes at Jackson Manor.

A thank-you note was read from Mary Ann Hibdon, activities director at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home, for the necklaces and bling.

Additionally, program suggestions for 2011 were reviewed and discussed. Plans were finalized for the evening tour of the Denton home with a meal-out to follow. Members were updated on two club members who were having health issues.

Dorothy Hahs, using the theme "Garden Harvest," installed the following officers for 2011: Karen McLane, president; Linda Sebaugh, vice president; Roberta Seabaugh, secretary; Gayla Volz, treasurer; JoAnn Hahs, public relations; Beverly Meyer, game leader; and Sharon Bogenpohl, song leader.

Upcoming dates to be remembered are: "Stay strong, stay healthy program," at the MU Extension Center, Jan. 10 through March 14, cost is $20, must have a doctor's permission to take; Autism Blanket Workshop, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 11, at the Extension Center; and the NAFCE 75th Annual Conference in Denver, Colo, July 14 through 27.

The remainder of the evening was filled with food, games, and gift exchanges that revealed the names of the secret pals.

Cape County FCE

The Cape County FCE Council meeting was held on Dec. 2 at the Cape Girardeau Extension Office at Jackson.

The hostesses for the Christmas meeting was Oak Ridge Club. Inez Statler, president, opened the meeting with and the devotion was given by Ruby Hitt, "My Soul Glorified my Lord" and "Different Thoughts." She reminded members to try to do a good deed.

Minutes were read and the treasurer's report was given.

Roll call was taken with 26 members and one guest present.

Committee reports were given.

The fall district meeting was held at Patterson, Mo., and 20 Cape County FCE members attended.

The leader training meeting at Farrar, Mo., was reported by Barbara Marshall and Mary Klaproth.

Klaproth reported on the tours that were held in 2010 and that the committee will get together to plan for 2011.

JoAnn Hahs gave a report on her Tri-Fold that she did for the State FCE Meeting. She won first place and the people's choice award.

Hahs also gave a report on the autism blankets that being sewn. Work dates are Jan. 11, Feb. 14, March 14, April 11 and May 9.

Donna Taake, 4-H Youth specialist, gave a program called "What is Your Personality's True Color?"

Oak Ridge FCE Club had the prayer before the luncheon.

The afternoon program was Christmas bingo lead by Nelda Crader.

Mary Gosche, human development specialist, had the installation of officers for 2011: Statler with Kage, president; Hahs with Lamplighters, president-elect; Crader with Oak Ridge, vice president; Mary Klaproth with Town & Country, recording secretary; Dortha Strack with Kage, corresponding secretary; Jeannie Rehak with Oak Ridge, treasurer; and Agnes Wachter with Cheerful Country Doers, public relations.

After installation was over Oak Ridge FCE Club announced the silent auction winners and awarded the door prizes.

The next FCE council meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 3.
