Members and guests enjoyed Kage FCE Christmas party Dec. 8 at the home of Judie Herbst. She was assisted with meal preparation by Shirley Palen. They also designed and compiled special membership folders, which included information needed by each member for 2017.
This month's projects were Toy Box and Christmas for the Elderly.
After group singing and a gift exchange, Herbst had a closing devotion, "May you always have an angel by your side."
Members of the Lamplighter Club met in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge on Dec. 8. The group traveled to the Jackson Manor Nursing Home and distributed Christmas stockings filled with goodies to the 64 residents. After leaving the nursing home, members traveled to Sandy's Restaurant at Cape Girardeau Regional Airport for lunch and the last meeting of the year.
JoAnn Hahs, president, called the meeting to order. Judy Strickland gave the devotion "The light of the carolers" from "Chicken Soup for the Soul." Dorothy Hahs read the minutes from November's meeting and Linda Sebaugh gave the treasurer's report. Minutes were approved and placed on file.
Hahs reported that 50 Christmas cards for the military were collected from the Lamplighters. The state meeting will be held Aug. 27 through 30 in Columbia, Missouri. The all-clubs meeting will be in March and the Lamplighter Club will be the hostess.
After enjoying a delicious lunch, each member answered roll call by describing her secret pal and exchanging Christmas gifts.
Before the meeting was adjourned, Dorothy Hahs installed the officers for 2017. The officers for the coming year are: Judy Strickland, president; Karen McLane, vice president; Linda Sebaugh, treasurer; JoAnn Hahs, secretary; Roberta Allen, song leader; Bev Meyer, game leader; and Margaret Friese, reporter.
Strickland asked that all incoming officers meet at 1 p.m. on Jan. 29 at her home for a planning session.
Verla Mangels will host the Jan. 21 meeting in her home. The meeting time will be announced later.
