Kage FCE Club
The Kage FCE Club met Nov. 11 at the home of Jane Clark. During the business meeting, Inez Statler reported that grant money and other money for the "Building Golden Memories" project have been spent and there are still enough Little Golden Books to complete the year. Since May 2000, 1,563 books have been given to children visiting the Cape Girardeau County health department's clinic. The club will participate in other community projects beginning in 2005.
All members are invited to attend the Thursday FCE council meeting. Those attending are to bring their favorite salad. There is to be a silent auction, and a program on prevention of child abuse will be presented by Saint Francis Medical Center.
Linda Farrow stated that the recent Ride-A-Thon sponsored by the Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship Program was successful. Several club members furnished baked goods as part of the meal.
Some of the members will prepare gift bags to be used in Jefferson and Blanchard elementary schools' Christmas store wrapping in December.
Following the business meeting, a make-or-bake auction was held. Proceeds will go toward community projects.
The next meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dexter Bar-B-Que in Cape Girardeau.
Wonderworkers FCE
The Wonderworkers FCE Club met at the home of Nell Kieninger on Nov. 18. The meeting began with the reading of Psalm 121 and a poem titled "Another Day."
Christmas cards were brought by members for the Troops Fan Mail. It was voted to send cookies and Christmas decorations to the Cape Girardot Youth and Family Center in Cape Girar-deau. The arrangement will be handled by Margie W. Reisenbichler.
It was also announced that the FCE County Extension meeting will be Saturday at the Extension Center in Jackson. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. Each member is to bring a salad for the luncheon and an item for the silent auction.
A mini lesson on health was given by June Landgraf.
The next meeting will be held at the home of Dorothy Lichtenegger on Dec. 9 with a luncheon beginning at 11:30 a.m. Each member is to bring a $5 gift for the gift exchange.
Capaha Scottish Rite Women's Club
The Capaha Scottish Rite Women's Club met Nov. 8 at Delmonico's in Jackson. Luella Armstrong, president, opened the meeting. Violet Reynolds voiced the table prayer.
During the business session, the club voted to contribute to the Shriners' Hospital.
Debbie Hay, program chairman, led the group in playing "guess the photos." Joyce Peerman, hostess, read "Thanksgiving Song."
There are no meetings scheduled for December, January and February. The next meeting will be held on March 14.
Arnsberg 4-H Club
The Arnsberg 4-H Club met Nov. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church hall in Friedheim. Emily Ruch, president, led the meeting. Jacob Light led the pledges. Shelby Proctor led the songs. Kaycie Seyer and Dustin Oehl were recognized as having November birthdays.
The club discussed upcoming events. The club will be selling raffle tickets for a quilt to help raise money for the new 4-H building at the SEMO District Fairgrounds.
The club also discussed the Christmas party that will be held at the next meeting. Members voted to bring Christmas cards to send to soldiers in Iraq. They will also bring a toy for the hospital's toy train, as well as items to send to soldiers. The club will be getting a meal together for a family in the community that is facing some medical problems.
Ethan Seyer reported on the Celebration Party held on Nov. 6 at the University of Missouri Extension office.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church hall in Friedheim. The Christmas party will be held at this meeting.
Xi Nu Phi
The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Nov. 23 at the home of Sheryl Smith. Pledge training for new members was held.
Sunshine gifts were distributed and upcoming birthdays and anniversaries were recognized.
The chapter will be going on a shopping trip to St. Louis on Saturday.
The program on women's self-defense was presented by Amanda and Ryan Balsamo, children of member Debbie Balsamo.
The next meeting will be held Tuesday at the home of Balsamo.
