Oak Ridge FCE

The Oak Ridge Homemakers FCE members gathered on Nov. 16 at the home of Betty Dellinger. A Thanksgiving meal was served to the 10 members and one guest attending. Jean Rehak received the hostess gift by winning a Thanksgiving game.

Billie Criddle gave a devotion entitled "Believe and seeing the best."

During the regular meeting the October minutes were read and approved. The treasurer's report was given. Town and Country FCE Club sent $25 to help with the Christmas baskets that the club will use in participation of the Christmas Giveaway at the Elks on Dec 9. An Oak Ridge Club work schedule was made for several members to participate.

Three members had represented the Oak Ridge Club at leaders training in Farrar, Mo.

New business included appointment of a program committee, Marilyn Retherford, Barbara Barks, Nelda Crader, Dellinger and Rehak. A work schedule was made for several members to participate in planning 2011 programs.

Dellinger and her sisters, and Barks will work all day at the Elks Christmas Giveaway where Oak Ridge club will give clothes to children. Rehak will work from 11 a.m. to the end, Retherford from 9 to 11 a.m. and others will work with the set up on Wednesday.

The club will be hosting the Cape Girardeau FCE Council meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 9. Committees will meet Wednesday at the MU Extension Center. Other work will be by those volunteering, namely, Barbara Popp doing the devotion, picking up the fried chicken for lunch, and helping with the silent auction; Retherford will attend the coffee, tea, and water station, washing dishes and working the silent auction; Barks will bring platters and work the door prizes; Crader will bring ice, order the chicken, and conduct the Christmas bingo; Dellinger will take care of registration and door prizes; Ruby Hitt will take care of prayer and registration; Carole Jo Byrd and Criddle will take care of set up, and clean up will be taken care by all members present.

Mary Dee Ford concluded the meeting by installing the 2011 Club Officers in a special way of giving officers special names.

American Legion Post 158

The American Legion Post 158 in Jackson met Oct. 12.

The minutes from the September meeting were approved.

Larry Koehler announced that Homecomers for 2011 will be held July 27 through 30.

Barbara Yallaly of the Missouri Veterans Home requested money for Christmas gifts for the residents. A motion was made to contribute $1,500 and it was approved.
