Xi Nu Phi

The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Nov. 2 at the home of Cathy Pancoast. Pledge training was held for new members and pictures were turned in for the scrapbook.

Linda Biri will be the extension officer for the remainder of the year.

The chapter will meet at Port Cape on Nov. 17 for dinner and then will attend the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas concert at the Show Me Center.

Plans are tentatively being made for the area chapters of Beta Sigma Phi to participate in the Cape Girardeau Christmas Parade on Nov. 28.

Other upcoming events are the Exemplar-Preceptor Banquet on Nov. 18 at the Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau and a shopping trip to St. Louis on Dec. 4.

Members watched the Operation Christmas Child video and turned in their Christmas shoeboxes for this program.

The next meeting will be on Nov. 23 at the home of Sheryl Smith.

New Salem UMW

The New Salem United Methodist Women of Daisy met Nov. 3 for their regular meeting after a Thanksgiving dinner.

The meeting was called to order by Betty Hahs, vice president, with 12 members present.

The purpose was read by members. The nominating committee selected the new officers for the coming year. They are: Dorothy Hahs, president; Shirley Grebe, vice president; Roberta Seabaugh, treasurer; Betty Hahs, secretary; and Barbara Brown, reporter. Colleen Lukefahr will install the new officers at the next meeting.

A committee will decided where the next meeting will be along with the Christmas party. Margie Roberts will have the devotion at this meeting.

Poinsettias will be purchased and placed in the church during the Christmas season.

It was decided to continue the loose change project to be used toward the piano fund, then after the first of the year, use the funds for a new marquee at the church.

During the program, Lukefahr read "'Twas the night of Thanksgiving." Also presented were readings and singing by Verla Mangels and Betty Henry. Afterwards, the World Thanks Offering boxes were brought forward.
