Members of Cape Girardeau County FCE Clubs attended the 75th Diamond Jubilee Missouri Association for Family and Community Education Annual Conference held Sept. 28 through 30 at the Clarion Hotel in Springfield, Mo. Those attending were Mary Klaproth, JoAnn Hahs, Sue Jones, Dortha Strack, Inez Statler and Judie Herbst. Statler was the recipient of the Missouri Heart of FCE award.
Workshops were presented on Egypt, "Generation at Odds," ovarian cancer, disaster preparedness and "It's Not Too Late -- Re-educate."
Dianne Reid, Ph.D. in Christian education, spoke on personality differences and enhancing strengths and overcoming weaknesses.
Cape Girardeau County received first-place awards in community successful program, health, international, membership and marketing, public policy, scholarship, youth and education and second place in home and community environment. Reports were compiled by Hahs, Ruth Petzoldt, Klaproth, Strack, Jobyna Daume, Marilyn Retherford and Nelda Crader.
The trifold made by Hahs received first place and also the people's choice award.
The conference will hosted by the Northeast District and held Oct. 3 through 5 at the Quality Inn in Hannibal, Mo.
