Xi Nu Phi
Julie Metzger was hostess for the Oct. 1 meeting of Xi Nu Phi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
A video was shown on things to remember from Life's Instruction Book. Each member shared something important to her to be compiled into a book for the chapter.
The social calendar was handed out, attendance sheet was signed for the bonfire and wiener roast to be held Oct. 12, and plans were discussed for the Preferential tea to be held Oct. 21.
It was noted that members participated in the recent heart walk.
The Oct. 15 meeting will be held at the home of Linda Biri.
Nancy Hunter Chapter DARMembers of Nancy Hunter Chapter NSDAR held a luncheon meeting Sept. 25 at Chateau Girardeau.
Guest speaker Dr. Peter Yaremko spoke about education and the constitution of the United States.
It was noted that Katherine Tolson, Sharon Rowland, Catherine Allison, Mary Lett, Dorothy Points and Lois Spalding attended the Southeast Missouri District 16 annual meeting Sept. 20 in Sikeston.
The chapter received number two level honor roll at the meeting. Special mention was given to Points for 38 years as national vice president in charge of the Blue Bird tour group, and to Spalding for being the newest member of DAR to attend the meeting. Spalding was accepted as a member in April.
Erin Bross of Scott City was accepted as a junior member in July.
Hostesses were Irene Popp and Betty Springer.
The next meeting is Oct. 23 at the home of Edna Fisher.
Alpha RhoThe Oct. 3 meeting of Alpha Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was held at the home of Norma Schrieber.
The hostess presented the program on "Happiness."
Get-well cards were signed and will be sent to those who are ill, and 100 cards were turned in to be sent to military personnel overseas.
Plans were made for the all-chapter tea to be held Oct. 21 at Centenary United Methodist Church.
It was announced that the chapter has again been designated a three-star chapter.
Because of illness, Fran Seifert resigned as treasurer and Schrieber volunteered to take the position, and Rudell Childers was granted a member-at-large status.
Dorothy Miles will be hostess for the Oct. 17 meeting.
New Salem UMWThe recent meeting of New Salem United Methodist Women was held at the home of Goldie Hobeck.
Roberta Seabaugh read a poem, and Shirley Grebe read a thank-you letter from Epworth.
It was decided that each member will bring food items to be given to a needy family in the community.
Hobeck presented the program and read a poem.
