Sharon Aldredge was hostess when the Kage FCE met at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center for their regular monthly meeting. There were 13 members present. President Dortha Strack presided. Dortha's Tip of the Day: Water house plants with room temperature water.

Members brought chapstick, hand cream, gloves or money to purchase items, that will be delivered to Mid-America Teen Challenge.

Shirley Palen and Judie Herbst reported that a Heed Grant had been received to assemble 100 "Show Me Missouri" games for local fourth-grade classrooms. Workshops to assemble the games will be held at a later date. Members are asked to bring any poker chips, dice, or game pieces that they may have. They will be collected at the February meeting.

Members were reminded to bring their volunteer hour forms and Golden Book award forms to the next meeting.

The next "Sewing for Autism" workshop will be held on Feb, 14 at the MU Extension Office in Jackson.

Jobyna Daume presented the program for the day was "Low Calorie Meals, Hearthfire Series #2."

The next meeting will be held on Feb. 10 at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center, and will be hosted by Ramona Brinkopf. The program will be presented by Sharon Eldredge.

Town & Country FCE

Town and Country FCE Club gathered Jan. 13 at Pagoda Gardens Restaurant in Cape Girardeau, for its annual birthday dinner and meeting. Darlene McCain and Mary Klaproth were in charge of arrangements.

Thanks were extended to Sue and Dean Jones for removing and storing the club's Christmas display in the Jackson and North County parks. The Club's Constitution and By-Laws were read.

It was decided to help assist the Oak Ridge FCE Club by each member bringing clothing items to the monthly meetings, to be distributed with the Elks Club Christmas Baskets in December.

The club will provide soda and cupcakes for Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center for their Valentine Day party in February.

The meeting concluded with a pound auction and secret pal birthday gift exchange. Sue Jones received the door prize. Club Out will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mario's Italian Grill in Jackson. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 10, with Klaproth as hostess.
