Alpha Rho of BSP
Alpha Rho of Beta Sigma Phi met Jan. 2, at Pagoda Gardens in Cape Girardeau. The program topic was Historical New Year's, presented by Edna Hey.
It was reported that the club donated $26 to Chromosome18 Registry & Research in honor of Hunter Ross, son of a local Beta Sigma Phi.
The next meeting will be Jan. 16, at the home of Marion Edwards, 2825 Bloomfield Road, apartment 103.
Quest Club GFWC
The Quest Club GFWC met Jan. 8, at the home of LaFern Stiver.
The program "Lifelong Education," was presented by Marilee Roethemeyer. She spoke about the Senior Learning Programs at the Hoover Center. She outlined all the activities available at the center and emphasized the importance of being involved mentally and physically all your life.
President Grace Hoover presented a memorial service for two deceased members, Gladys Rasche Taylor and Ida Marie Vandivort. Both were former presidents of the club, and Taylor was a charter member.
The next meeting will be Feb. 12, at the home of Hoover at Saxony Village.
Kage FCE
The Kage FCE Club met on Jan. 9, in the home of Judie Herbst. Hostess was Dortha Strack.
Valentine greetings were collected to be sent to persons in the military. It was reported that the Red Cross needs help with blood drives.
It was decided to increase the number of Golden Books given to children visiting the clinic each month at the Cape Girardeau County Health Center from 25 to 30.
Barbara Marshall volunteered to oversee the club's efforts in acquiring signatures for tuning out violence on TV for April 5.
A community service schedule for the year was distributed. Marshall and Wilma Copeland became new members.
Opal Collins gave the program, which dealt with benefits of volunteerism to both the giver and the recipient. The hostess gift was awarded to Shirley Palen.
The next meeting will be hosted by Verna Vogel on Feb. 13.
Xi Nu Phi
Xi Nu Phi met Jan. 7, at the Kiefner Construction office, hosted by Kathy Kiefner.
The Heimlich Maneuver was demonstrated by Kiefner.
A state convention steering committee meeting will be held Jan. 15. The state convention is Oct. 24 through 26, at Jefferson City, Mo.
Couple's Bunko was held on Jan. 1, at the home of Julie Metzger.
The next meeting will be held Jan. 21, at the home of Cindy Propst. A preceptor ritual will be held.
VFW 3838 Auxiliary
The Post 3838 VFW Ladies Auxiliary met Jan 9 at the post. Debbie Griffin conducted the meeting.
The district meeting will be held at noon Jan. 19 at Post 3838. The Voice of Democracy Banquet will be held. The winner will be announced and will be entered in the state judgment in February. The department president, Judy Dorsey, will attend this meeting. The district winner of the Patriots Pen Essay will also be announced. Members are requested to bring desserts.
C of A will be held Feb. 7 and 8 in Columbia, Mo. Anyone wishing to send something for the cancer booth may leave it at Post 3838 to be taken.
A donation of $100 was made to SEMO Crime Lab.
New members voted in were Irene Dotson and Ruth Ann Scherer.
Missouri Veterans Home will have bingo Jan. 25, which is the fourth Saturday. Volunteers are needed.
The group is still saving Campbell soup labels. These may be brought to the post.
The next steak night will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 1.
Buddy Poppy sales in May were discussed.

The next meeting will be Feb. 13 at the post.
