St. Mary CCW
St. Mary Council of Catholic Women held their Christmas party on Dec. 15 in the Monsignor Huels room. Pat Eftink prepared the meal.
Nancy King, president, presided over the meeting. The Revs. Tom Kiefer, Patrick Nwokoye and John Paul Long were welcomed as visitors.
A Christmas card was received from Doris Eftink, former community commission chairperson for National Council of Catholic Women, thanking us for the group's support. NCCW won $5,000 from "Catholic Digest."
It was voted to make a donation to the St. Mary Home and School dinner auction.
The next meeting will be Jan. 19.
The Lamplighters FCE Club met on Dec. 15 at the home of Sharon Bogenpohl. A short business meeting followed the holiday meal.
A report was given on the Dec. 1 district council meeting. It was also reported that the winter clothing, hats, gloves, etc., donated by members at a prior meeting was given to the Oak Ridge School District.
Members voted to give a $50 donation to both the Toybox and Christmas for the Elderly.
The installation of newly elected officers was given by Dorothy Hahs.
Members exchanged secret pal gifts for Christmas and revealed their identity. Names were drawn for 2006 secret pals.
The next meeting will be Jan. 19 at the home of Linda Freeman.
The Xi Nu Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Jan. 3 at the home of Tammy Monia. The invitation to the Valentine dinner and dance was received and given to all members.
The committee is planning for the Founder's Day banquet which the chapter is hosting this year.
A spa treatment evening is planned for Friday. Plans are tentatively made to attend the Nashville, Tenn., Flea Market on March 26.
Monia presented the program on New Year's resolutions.
The next meeting will be Tuesday at the home of Renee Hesselrode.
