The Wonderworkers FCE Club met on Feb. 12 at the home of June Landgraf. The meeting was called to order by the hostess.

Further plans were made for hosting All Clubs Day on March 22 at the Jackson Extension Center. Volunteer hours were recorded. A decision was made to study Romania instead of Alaska for the international study. A reminder was given for the program training meeting to be held at the Jackson Extension Center at 6 p.m. on Monday.

The next meeting will be held at the home of Dorothy Lichtenegger at 1:30 p.m. Margie W. Reisenbichler will give a program on landscaping.

St. Mary CWC

St. Mary Council of Catholic Women met Feb. 19 in the Monsignor Huels Room for a soup appreciation supper. Judy Stricker, president, opened the meeting.

Those attending with February birthdays were recognized: Dolores Gibbar, Hermina Westrich, Iva Fee, Nancy King and Diane Schaefer. Hazel Blank, Region VII president, visited the meeting.

King reported that 50 children's books were donated to the Safe House. Fifty-three birthday cards were mailed to parishioners 80 years old and older during December, January and February.

Church Women United World Day of Prayer will be observed on Friday at the Salvation Army. A list of items needed for school kits were distributed. Supplies can be brought to the March meeting.

A spring bake sale and community garage sale will be held in the gym on March 27 and 28. A light lunch will be available.

Margie Huber, Regina Yeager and Marilyn Weber will serve on the nominating committee for president and vice president.

The next meeting will be in the Monsignor Huels Room at 7 p.m. March 18. Bring books of your collected memories. This can be scrapbooks, photo albums, family recipes or special events.

Nancy Hunter NSDAR

The Nancy Hunter Chapter NSDAR met Feb. 25 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Regent Katherine Tolson led in the opening of the meeting.

This was the Good Citizens and American History awards meeting. Award chairman Patsy Robert introduced the winners. They were: Cassie Ludwig of Oak Ridge High School, daughter of Lynn and Susan Ludwig; April Helderman of Delta High School, daughter of James and Carolyn Helderman; and Tyler Roeger of Cape Girardeau Central High School, son of Robert and Elizabeth Roeger. Each student was asked to read the patriotic article they had written, then a parent was asked to come forward to present the award pin to their child.

After the ceremony, refreshments were served by hostesses LaFern Stiver and Jeanning McGinnis.

The next meeting will be held on March 24 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.

Lamplighters FCE Club

The Lamplighters FCE Club met Feb. 14 at Oak Ridge United Methodist Church. Karen McLane was the hostess of the party, a card/game night where husbands of members were guests. A short business meeting was held after all enjoyed a potluck dinner.

The next meeting will be March 18 at the home of Beverly Meyers.

Exchange Club

The Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau met Feb. 3 and 17 at Port Cape Girardeau.

Ferd Sturm presented the youth of the month award at the Feb. 3 meeting, and Cletus Todt presented Chuck Martin at the Feb. 17 meeting. Martin, director of the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau, gave the members an insight to all the plans that are being made to attract conventions and visitors to Cape Girardeau.

Vernon Auer is scheduled to present the One Nation Under God program on March 16. Spouses are invited.

Larry Simon is working on the Giveakidaflagtowave program for April. The parks cleanup day is scheduled for April 24.
