JACKSON -- The city's tax rate will remain at $1.05 for 1996.
A public hearing held Monday night on the rate, which has been unchanged since 1985, had only reporters in attendance.
The rate will be $1.05 per $100 assessed valuation for people within the library district, and 92 cents for people outside the district.
The tax rate will produce an estimated $802,957, based on the city's total assessed valuation of $80,261,282.
The tax rate includes a 65 cent levy for general revenue, which will produce an estimate $521,694; 13 cents for the library, which will produce an estimated $64,194; 7 cents for the cemetery fund, which will produce an estimated $56,185; 13 cents for the parks fund, which will produce an estimated $104,339; and 7 cents for the band fund, which will produce an estimated $56,185.
