The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor "Halloween Happenings" at the A.C. Brase Arena on Friday, Oct. 18.
At 6 p.m., there will be a coloring contest for children ages 3-7 and a pumpkin carving or decorating contest for children ages 8-12. Participants must bring their own pumpkins, carving tools and supplies.
A costume carnival will follow at 7 p.m. Participants ages 2-12 in three age categories may win prizes for having the most funny, scary, cute or creative costume.
Bill Coomer, a local magician, will perform at 8 p.m.
There will be a hay maze inside the building, as well as a variety of other activities and games. Children may be registered for the event by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 335-5421 or by filling out a registration form at the A.C. Brase Arena. There is no fee for the event.
