Cape Girardeau residential trash and recycling customers may bring household hazardous waste to a collection event Saturday at the 4-H Building in Arena Park.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon and is provided by the Public Works Department, funded in part by a Missouri Department of Natural Resources Solid Waste Management District grant. The event is free for customers and will be held rain or shine.
Household hazardous waste items, which are not accepted in normal weekly trash service, must be dropped off in leak proof containers. Accepted items include acids, adhesive, antifreeze, fluorescent light bulbs, used motor oil and filters and more.
A full list of accepted items is available at cityofcapegirardeau.org. Paper shredding also will be available.
