The pool was closed following swimming lessons Monday night.

Dan Muser, Cape Girar-deau parks and recreation director, said city crews plan to remove the heavy pump and haul it to St. Louis for possible repairs. But Muser said he doesn't know if the pump, rebuilt in 1996, is repairable. If it can't be repaired, the city would have to buy a new pump in order to reopen the pool. For now, area swimmers will have to crowd into the Central Municipal Pool, he said.
