The Scott City Kiwanis Club will sponsor the Carson & Barnes Circus on Oct. 23 in Scott City for two shows.
The circus will perform two shows, at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Kicking off ticket sales for the circus will be Delilah Peters, who is phoning businesses and organizations to offer blocks of tickets to give to underprivileged or handicapped children.
These tickets may be used by businesses as promotional tools, an employee bonus or as a donation to the circus, said Paul Swanner, circus chairman for the Kiwanis.
"We want people to know that this telephone promotion is legitimate and one that the Scott City Kiwanis is sponsoring," Swanner said.
The Carson & Barnes Circus is the largest tented mud show in the United States and is on the road for approximately 230 days per year.
Proceeds from the circus will be used by the Kiwanis for various community projects, Swanner said.
The circus will be set up at the Interstate 55 exit at Scott City, across from the Cape Girardeau airport.
Advance tickets are available at JC Penney, Sanders True Value, Schnucks and Walmart in Cape Girardeau; Heisserer's Express Mart in Chaffee; Sanders True Value in Jackson; Baker's Bestway, Roth Hardware and Sportsman's One-Stop in Scott City and at all Rhodes 101 locations, or from any Kiwanis Club member.
