CHURCH CELEBRATES HOMECOMING

First Church of the Nazarene, 2601 Independence, will have a homecoming celebration this weekend.

The first service will be at 7 tonight, with a concert by The New Creations Quartet of Upland, Calif.

Sunday activities will include a fellowship time at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts. The homecoming service will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Speaker will be the Rev. Jerry W. Frye of Eldon, and music will be presented by The New Creations Quartet.

Following the service, an old-fashioned all-church family dinner will be held.

Members of the quartet are Bill McLain, owner/manager and lead singer; Butch Brown, baritone; Tim Callon, tenor; Dave Skipworth, bass; and Everett Evans on keyboards. The southern gospel group was organized in 1971 and travels full time nationwide with its evangelistic music ministry. They have appeared at churches, concerts, fairs, rodeos, and on television.

Frye was associate pastor at the church here from 1973-77, during which time the current building was erected. He has been pastor at First Church of the Nazarene at Eldon the past 20 years. He is also district secretary for the Missouri District and serves on the District Advisory Board.
