The Cape Girardeau Central High School Marching Tigers placed second in the AAA Division of the Lafayette High School 11th annual Contest of Champions.

The Marching Tigers were among 22 bands to participate in the contest, held Sept. 27 in St. Louis.

In addition to placing second in the AAA Division, the band brought home trophies for best marching and best music. They placed sixth overall in the morning competition. The top 10 bands from the morning competed as one class in the evening. The Marching Tigers placed fifth in the evening competition.

The band will travel to Washington, Mo., for their second competition Oct. 3. Information about the band is available online at
