The Southeast Missouri State University Choral Union is starting spring rehearsals for an April 6 performance of John Rutter's "Requiem."

The Choral Union is open to community and church choir singers, university students, faculty and staff. John B. Egbert, coordinator of choral and vocal studies at the university, is the group's director.

"I know there are numerous community singers unaware that they can simply come to the university on Tuesday evenings and sing in this group," Egbert said. "They do not have to enroll in anything, pay any fees or even audition.

"The performances have been tremendous successes and public response has been overwhelming. All too often, people feel they are not good enough to sing in a group like this, and that is not true. We have had a good response thus far, as the group has increased in size and performance capability over the last several years."

Rehearsals are held Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Brandt Music Hall. For more information, call Egbert at 651-2342.
