Area students will have an opportunity to meet the authors of books they read at the 13th annual Children's Young Adult Literature Festival Thursday and Friday.
Featured authors attending this year's festival are Missourians Jan Greenberg and Vickie Grove, and from Georgia, Doris Buchanan Smith.
The event is held at the University Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.
Greenberg is the author of "No Dragons to Slay," "Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie," and "The Iceberg and Its Shadow." She lives in St. Louis and recently completed two art appreciation books.
Grove is author of "Good-bye My Wishing Star" and "The Fastest Friends in the West." Her most recent novel, "Rimwalkers," due out soon, is a Junior Library Guild selection. She lives in Ionia.
Smith is author of "The Pennywhistle tree," "Best Girl," "Last Was Lloyd," and "A Taste of Blackberries."
Students will attend from all over Southeast Missouri.
The festival is sponsored by the university's College of Education, Missouri State Teachers Association, Southeast Department of Learning Resources, Southeast Missouri Council of the International Reading Association, Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts, and Drury Restaurants.
