Southeast Missouri Hospital will offer a free, two-part seminar called "Self Care by Children" Wednesday and Wednesday, Aug. 7 for families considering whether to leave their children home alone after school or for part of the day.

The seminar will begin at 7 p.m. both days at the hospital's Jackson Outreach Services at Main Street Fitness Center, 410 W. Main.

Wednesday's program is for children and parents to help families determine whether children are ready to be at home by themselves.

The Aug. 7 portion is for children only and will focus on first aid for children.

The seminar is free, but preregistration is required. Call Southeast's Fitness and Wellness Center, 334-9355, to sign up.
