ST. LOUIS -- A young boy has died after being trapped in a burning home in St. Louis. The fire broke out about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on the city's north side. Authorities said the boy was discovered in a first-floor bedroom and taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital in critical condition...

The fire broke out about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on the city's north side. Authorities said the boy was discovered in a first-floor bedroom and taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital in critical condition.

The 5-year-old died later in the day.

Two adults and four children were able to escape from the home. One of the adults was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The fire destroyed the two-story house and damaged another home nearby. The cause remains under investigation.
