CHICAGO WOMAN DIES IN ACCIDENT NEAR MOUND CITY

MOUND CITY, Ill. -- A 42-year-old Chicago woman was killed in an automobile accident Tuesday, on Interstate 57, near the entrance ramp to exit 8 in Pulaski County.

Jami M. Craig was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident after her car collided with a tractor-trailer truck in the southbound lane of Interstate 57.

A spokesman for the Illinois State Police said that the truck was traveling in the passing lane of the interstate when Craig's vehicle began to merge into the roadway.

Craig reportedly lost control of her vehicle, swerved off the roadway, and then swerved back onto the interstate under the trailer of the truck.

The driver of the truck, Raymond R. Brown, 51, of Dexter, was unhurt. His truck incurred minor damage.
