For the fifth straight year, the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis is playing host to the U.S. Championship and the U.S. Women's Championship. Male and female competitors will vie for the titles from Friday to May 13.

Tournament organizers say Samuel Sevian of Santa Clara is the youngest person ever to compete in the U.S. Championship. He was just 9 when he was named a "National Master," which at the time made him the youngest person to achieve that title in U.S. chess history.
