CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Approximately 240 students from 30 area high schools, including Cape Central, Jackson and Oak Ridge, will participate Thursday in Southeast Missouri State University's ninth annual Chemistry Bowl.
At the competition, high schools will be divided into large and small school divisions. Each school will also entered four students in team competition, and awards will be given to the top three schools in each division.
Students will attempt to master a 35-question, multiple choice exam and two experiments, an acid-based titration and a qualitative analysis experiment.
A workshop for teachers will be held during the chemistry bowl. A program on careers in chemistry and chemistry-related professions will be given.
