A 20-year-old Cape Girardeau man will likely face criminal charges, police said Monday, after he allegedly drove his Honda SUV into a home on Good Hope Street while intoxicated.
Residents of 1124 Good Hope St. were at home Sunday at about 9:50 p.m., when the car crashed through a wall, said Darin Hickey, a spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
None of the home's occupants were injured, Hickey said, though the driver did suffer a minor cut to his left arm. The name of the driver was not released Monday pending the filing of formal charges, Hickey said.
Charges were expected to be filed sometime later Monday, Hickey said, but a likely DWI charge won't list alcohol as a factor. The man was allegedly under the influence of another substance, Hickey said, but he declined to specify on the record what the substance was until the charges were filed.
The driver will also likely be charged with other traffic offenses. The man remained in custody Monday.
