KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Prosecutors have filed charges against a 26-year-old man in the Oct. 10 shooting that left a man dead and a woman wounded inside a car on a Kansas City street.
Jackson County prosecutor Jim Kanatzar said Monday that Derrick Peace is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action. Prosecutors have requested a $250,000 bond.
Court documents say Peace shot Phillip Pleasant and Tamara Graham after an altercation in a vehicle parked in front of Peace's house. Police they arrived to find Pleasant dead in the front seat and Graham in the back seat suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
A .32-caliber handgun believed used in the shooting was found in a nearby storm sewer.
